When publishing an app to the public app stores or an enterprise app, you will need to have the following accounts:
Public app store
- Apple developer account
- Google Play developer account
Enterprise
- Apple developer account and Apple business manager
- Firebase and Google Cloud account to set up push notifications
What are Apple & Google Developer accounts?
Apple and Google Developer accounts are required for publishing iOS and Android apps through the public stores; an Apple Developer account is also required for publishing iOS enterprise apps.
Click the links below to learn more about and sign up for the two different Apple Developer accounts as well as the Google Developer account.
To launch an app to the public or enterprise stores, Fliplet requires you to have a paid plan. To find out more about the pricing plans see here, if you have any questions please feel free to contact us using live chat or by emailing support@fliplet.com.
Which account type should you choose?
Google Play Developer Account
Recommendation: If you operate as a company, opt for an Organization (Company) account rather than an Individual (Personal) account.
Why?
-
Since 13 November 2023, Google requires newly created personal accounts to complete a closed test with at least 12 (or 20) testers continuously for 14 days before publishing to production. This significantly delays app launch timelines
-
In contrast, Organization accounts are not subject to this closed-testing prerequisite, enabling quicker access to production deployments and smoother operations
-
Organization accounts also require more verification (e.g., business details, D‑U‑N‑S number, public phone/email) but offer greater stability and credibility
Apple Developer Account
Recommendation: If you’re a company—or want to present your app under a company name—enroll with an Organization Developer account rather than as an individual.
Why?
-
Organization accounts allow you to use your company’s legal name as the seller, support adding multiple team members with specific roles, and grant access to Apple’s advanced tools and collaboration features
-
Individual accounts restrict team access, you cannot share certificates and provisioning through App Store Connect, and your personal legal name is displayed as the seller
-
Should you need to switch later, Apple permits transitioning from an individual to an organization account via a support request (provided you supply verification such as a D‑U‑N‑S number)
