What is the Text Editor?

The Text Editor is used to format text, wherever it is used in your app. It can be found at the top of the screen view in Studio, right below the list of devices used to preview your app.

Why use the Text Editor

The Text Editor is used to format text content in your apps. It is particularly suitable for text-heavy apps. Use it to make your content more readable to your users.

Options of the Text Editor

Style

Allows selection of style to be applied to text. The following styles are available:

  1. Paragraph (this is the default style)

  2. Heading 1

  3. Heading 2

  4. Heading 3

  5. Heading 4

  6. Heading 5

  7. Heading 6

  8. Preformatted (this is used for preformatted text, e.g. code)

Font Family

Configures the font of the text. Custom fonts will appear here if adding via App Settings.

Font Sizes

Configures the text’s font size

Bold

Bolds the selected text

Italic

Italicizes the selected text

Underline

Underlines the selected text

Strikethrough

Strikes through the selected text. Most often used to indicate text that may no longer be relevant.

Text color

Allows selecting the color to be applied to  selected text

Background color

Allows selecting the color to be applied to the background behind the text

Text Alignment

Use the applicable option to align text accordingly:

  • Align left

  • Center

  • Align right

  • Justify

Bullet list

Allows the selected text to be listed as bullet items. Choose styles from the dropdown.

Ordered list

Allows the selected text to be listed as numbered items. Choose styles from the dropdown.

Decrease/Increase indent

Decrease or increase the indentation of selected text

Blockquote

Inserts quotation marks between selected text

Subscript

Makes the selected text a subscript

Superscript

Makes the selected text a superscript

Table

Inserts a table into the component. The number of columns and rows can be defined prior to insertion. Cells, rows, and columns are also configurable.

Insert date/time

Allows the current date and/or time to be inserted 

Special character

 Shows a list of special characters to insert

Horizontal line

Allows inserting of a horizontal line that will run the full width of the text section, often for dividing content.

Clear formatting

Clears the formatting for the selected text

Insert link

Allows links to be inserted and configured. For more information, see Configure Links.
